\u201cThis will be the new normal until a vaccine is developed,\u201d Trudeau was quoted saying in an April 11 National Post report. If so, that would mean a minimum of one to three years, given the usual best time in which a vaccine can be developed.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Donald Trump says \u201cI want to get it open as soon as we can; we have to get our country open.\u201d With May 1 targeted as his primary re-opening date, Trump has also gone on record saying he would like to see parts of the country open up even sooner than that.<\/p>\n

With COVID-19 statistics falling far short of expectations,<\/strong> and looking more like average or lower than average annual flu numbers, government officials in tandem with the medical profession are warning of a second or third wave, having apparently implied that we have already been through the first wave. <\/p>\n

When politicians announce that ending the shut down will depend upon what the \u2018medical experts\u2019 tell them, expect to be waiting forever. Left to doctors, society would always be in a state of emergency.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This has more and more people asking: \u201cWhat makes this particular virus so unique that our world governments have acted in such an unprecedented and extreme manner?\u201d<\/p>\n

To be sure, there are symptoms and behaviors associated with the SARS CoV-2 virus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2) that are unlike any associated with known viruses.<\/strong> However is this enough to warrant and justify the broad suspension of all freedoms and rights?<\/p>\n

No matter the numbers, and no matter the nature of the virus, the really dangerous pandemic we should all be vigilant against<\/strong> \u2013 since it affects all of us without exception \u2013 is the political one. It\u2019s a pandemic that could lead to the permanent establishment of an all powerful and omnipotent STATE \u2013 the \u2018state\u2019 of emergency.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Once the viral dust has settled, perhaps the greatest question we\u2019ll be grappling with to prevent a similar politically initiated disaster in the future is: What conditions should be considered Just Right to ever justify declaring a state of emergency?<\/p>\n
