Such has been <strong>the \u2018big tent\u2019 strategy of the PCs<\/strong> in the past, and it is the primary cause of all of the internal corruption and conflict that has become a public spectacle over recent months.<\/p>\n<p>For decades, the PC Party has been a conflicted association of \u2018fiscal conservatives,\u2019 \u2018social conservatives,\u2019 \u2018libertarians,\u2019 \u2018red Tories,\u2019 \u2018blue Tories,\u2019 \u2018Christian conservatives,\u2019 plus the usual association of \u2018hammer-head\u2019 voters and those who simply seek power for its own sake.<\/p>\n<p>To this <strong>Doug Ford has already announced intentions to expand his \u2018big tent\u2019 party to include even more disparate groups, including the NDP, Liberals, and Greens, in whose interests he has promised to speak.<\/strong> Progressive, yes.  Conservative, no.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps more interesting than a Progressive Conservative Party no different from its Liberal opposition are the people who would support such a party in order to oust that opposition.<\/p>\n<p>In expressing their support for a leader and party that they clearly do not know or understand on a fundamental level, the first wave of open-line talk show callers provides ample evidence of this phenomenon. The contradictions abound and give new meaning to the word: <strong>contradic-Tory<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>As leader of <strong>a direction-less collective of conflicting interests<\/strong>, it would seem that Doug Ford is indeed the person who is Just Right to continue leading the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario &#8211; Leftward.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.justrightmedia.org\/blog\/547-topics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.justrightmedia.org\/images\/buttons\/topics.gif\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"\/\/www.justrightmedia.org\/blog\/547-clips-credits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.justrightmedia.org\/images\/buttons\/clips_and_credits.gif\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the new leader of Ontario\u2019s Progressive Conservative (PC) Party, Doug Ford is symbolic of conservatism\u2019s progressive disintegration.
