Reaction to last week\u2019s show on \u2018climate change\u2019 featuring Dave Plumb, author of \u2018Inconveniently Screwed,\u2019 generated the feedback that inspired this week\u2019s discussion. And thanks to Canada\u2019s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who announced that his National Climate Plan would be forced on the four Canadian provinces that did not wish to have such a plan, the issue has once again been pushed into the spotlight.<\/p>\n

Referred to as a \u2018climate\u2019 plan, it\u2019s really a tax.<\/strong> There simply is no way to pin down any specifics in the plan that have anything to do with global \u2018climate,\u2019 or what the \u2018climate\u2019 goal actually is. For example, what is the \u2018correct\u2019 global temperature, humidity, ocean level, atmospheric pressure, etc.? Most importantly, what is the \u2018correct\u2019 level of \u2018greenhouse gases\u2019 \u2013 especially given the knowledge that water vapor is among the most threatening.<\/p>\n

Is Trudeau\u2019s government attempting to keep the global (not just Canada\u2019s) climate at the temperature it is today? Is a decrease in average annual temperature averages the desired goal? Is an increase the desired goal? Where are such specifics in the \u2018climate\u2019 plan, how will the success or failure of the \u2018plan\u2019 be measured? <\/p>\n

Don\u2019t even attempt to answer such questions, because climate concerns are not part of any nation\u2019s \u2018climate\u2019 plan.<\/strong> Government \u2018climate\u2019 plans are really plans to tax carbon dioxide emissions, yet carbon dioxide is neither a pollutant, nor responsible for climate change. <\/p>\n

Trudeau\u2019s \u2018climate change\u2019 plan is not about the weather. Trudeau\u2019s \u2018climate change\u2019 plan is a political one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What\u2019s important to Trudeau is his government\u2019s socialist political agenda, and the imposition of specific taxes to help implement that agenda. For politicians on the Left, the specter of \u2018climate change\u2019 offers a much needed imaginary villain to defeat<\/strong>, a political \u2018purpose\u2019 and opportunity to virtue signal, all the while raising taxes and expanding the role of the state. That\u2019s where the real change in climate is taking place.<\/p>\n

For those on the Right, Trudeau and his Liberals are themselves the source of the political \u2018climate change\u2019 that needs to be fought.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the \u2018weather\u2019 distraction that is called climate change will continue to serve its political purpose as long as people fail to see the real frightening \u2018change\u2019 that is coming, in a way that is Just Right.<\/p>\n
