In this 2025 Canadian election, Maxime Bernier and the People’s Party of Canada have been entirely ‘Left’ out of the picture by the media. What’s surprising is that there are a significant number of people on the ‘Right’ who would also like to see Bernier left out of the picture. Most call themselves ‘conservatives.’

Apparently, Bernier and the PPC represent some kind of threat to both groups.

Suffering from political derangement syndromes like the myths of ‘splitting the vote,’ or the ‘wasted vote’ delusion, this latter group of voters who see themselves on the Right comprise a major part of what can best be termed as the ‘People Problem in Canada.’

Steeped in sheer ignorance, this group can best be seen as NPCs, ‘non-player-characters’, the mindless zombies who are reacting to a false stimulus (like a fear of Mark Carney), instead of acting on reason or principle.

Believing that this is some kind of viable political strategy called ‘strategic voting,’ for those on the Right, it is contradictory and self-defeating. As Robert Vaughan recently described it on social media:

STRATEGIC VOTER: I will vote for the party that doesn’t represent my values in order to defeat the other party that doesn’t represent my values because the party that does represent my values isn’t going to get enough votes to win. ME: I will vote for my values. Always.”

It seems to us that those who vote ‘strategically’ in this manner are betraying themselves for an illusory short-term reward: a ‘lesser’ of a given number of evils. They are voting ‘against,’ rather than voting ‘for’ – a wasted vote if ever there was one.

Worse, in so doing, they are also betraying the people who do represent their values and who are working hard to lead others in the Right direction, instead of following others in the Left direction.

In the current political zeitgeist faced by Canadians, ‘strategic’ criticisms of Maxime and the PPC serve no purpose other than to malign the only Party on the Canadian federal landscape that gets it Just Right.
