Celebrating the founding of one’s country should be a joyous occasion but the recent marking of Independence Day and Canada Day have been marred in both countries. In the United States, we see a concerted effort on the part of the Left and the Democratic Party to destroy their nation. In Canada, all celebrations were cancelled under the pretext of health and safety and under orders from a Prime Minister who said that Canada is the first “post-national state” which has no “core identity.”

Regardless of attempts by the Marxists of both countries to destroy the very foundations of their nationhood people in the United States were treated to a magnificent display at Mount Rushmore by a truly patriotic president. In Canada we witnessed a gathering of some 10,000 patriots on Parliament Hill, defying the dictates of their unpatriotic rulers.

Professor Salim Mansur was one of those on Parliament Hill in Ottawa who exercised his right to freely assemble and his right to protest the actions of a Prime Minister bent on destroying his country. He also was uplifted by President Donald Trump’s speech at Mount Rushmore—a speech that praised the United States as a nation founded on reason and equality for all.

In this interview, Professor Mansur tells us of his trip to Ottawa to be with his fellow patriots on Canada Day and he offers us his analyses of President Trump’s stirring speech in defense of heroes.

May 8, 2020, marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe — VE Day. In the intervening years between that momentous day in 1945 and today, we have seen changes both for the better and for the worse which nobody could have conceived.

Paramount amongst these changes is the way we have come full-circle from the tyranny of the Axis powers to the situation we find ourselves in today with the measures imposed upon a once-free people, not by outside belligerents but by ourselves.

Professor Emeritus Salim Mansur of Western University explains that underlying all such impositions is a reluctance of our culture to understand and embrace individual freedom.

The current drastic measures to reduce the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus have people so much on edge that it is difficult to believe that we can come out of this unscathed psychologically and culturally.

Since 2001 most of us, especially those born since then, have become inured to a culture of surveillance but, with the current pandemic, we seem to be entering into an informant culture where everyone is suspected to be a possible bio-weapon.

Professor Salim Mansur likens our current predicament to Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest with only a few of us realizing that we are in an institution for the insane.

This is a precarious time where the West’s very culture of individual freedom is in peril of being lost forever. Our situation is made all the worse since we are tacitly committing ourselves into an asylum of our own making.

Canada is a country founded primarily by British and European pioneers and settlers with a form of governance based on the Westminster model and populated by a majority of people holding classical liberal political values.

Rather than celebrate the nature of Canada’s culture and its history of individual freedom, globalists, like Justin Trudeau wish to transform this country into a nation of people who are more amenable to socialist and collectivist values and who are more willing to be led from the United Nations rather than Ottawa.

The recent plan of Trudeau and his Liberal government to have millions of immigrants overwhelm and replace the current population of Canada is yet another step in the operation of transforming Canada into a nation of docile collectivists led by a cabal of globalist elites.

644 – Gone coronaviral—The infectious politics of spreading fear and panic

Ever since isolated incidents of ‘coronavirus’ have begun appearing outside of China, much of the mainstream and social media alike have gone ‘coronaviral’ by needlessly spreading fear and panic about the flu-like illness. Yet, the real disease that should be feared is China’s political ideology which may have more to do with the breakout of coronavirus than the virus itself.

As our guest Salim Mansur explains, China has been identified as the world’s premier incubator of new infectious flu strains, including: the 1918-19 Spanish flu, the 1957 Asian flu, the Hong Kong flu of 1968, the Russian flu of 1997, the SARS outbreak of 2003, and most recently, the global spread of coronavirus originating in Wuhan. To Salim, this is not surprising. Having himself visited China from its coastal cities to its deepest interior, Salim has witnessed horrifying conditions unimaginable to most of us.

With entire cities of millions being shut down and quarantined, China’s actions have included rounding up, imprisoning, and even shooting its own citizens who were caught walking in the streets. Remarkably, China’s government has been praised by many Western leaders for its handling of the outbreak.

There is a tragic and outrageous irony in this. In the Western nations, the outbreak of coronavirus has been politicized so as to place blame on the Trump administration in the United States, with the mainstream media and those on the Left going so far as to call it the ‘Trump virus.’ Yet, the only justifiable ‘politicization’ of this outbreak falls squarely on China’s communist regime, and on the globalist politicians who have failed to take the appropriate measures to limit its spread. 643 – Canada’s crisis: from alienation to alien nations?

Canada is in crisis. In many ways, that crisis is similar to that faced by the European Union and its recent loss of Britain as a constituent member of that union.

In this, the second part of our conversation with Dr Salim Mansur, professor emeritus of political science at Western University, we discover that the fluid dynamics of the nation-state can easily lead to alienation ‘within’ nations. When interests and common values once shared instead become a source of conflict and cause for national divisions, the resulting alienation may lead to the literal formation of alien nations.

Given the rise and fall of the nation-state throughout history, it is clear that nations are far more fragile than most people generally perceive. The temporary duration of the various political structures under which humankind has been governed or ruled throughout history merits due consideration.

After having considered the state of the unions known as Britain, Europe, and America, our attention now turns to Canada, the country that many consider to be the ‘odd man out’ with regard to the most recent political shifts in the Anglosphere. Continue reading »
