608 – Rule by regulation – A road to tyranny

Three Stooges

Early in his administration, U.S. president Donald Trump proposed that each new regulation created by law should be matched by the elimination of two previously existing regulations. While this represents a positive move in the right direction, it barely addresses the tip of the iceberg with regard to all the unnecessary and counterproductive regulations that need to be eliminated.

No matter how well intentioned a given law may be, the regulations created to administer that law more frequently than not turn into the proverbial ‘devil in the details,’ reaching a point where the consequences of the regulation are often worse than the problem originally thought solved.

Even when regulations reach a point where their consequences are contrary to the intended purpose of the original law on which they were based, there is little recourse available to those harmed by the regulation, since no one can be held effectively accountable. One cannot reason or argue with administrators or bureaucrats when, ironically, they merely cite legislation as their justification for doing almost anything that they interpret as falling within the purview of their authority.

Under the principle of the ‘Rule of Law,’ politicians and citizen representatives can be held accountable for the consequences. Under ‘Rule by Regulation,’ there is little such accountability. Continue reading »

607 – Why social ISm and capital ISN’T

Bonanza

Socialism’s growing appeal is often difficult to understand, particularly given capitalism’s demonstrated social, economic, and political superiority. However, the resistance to capitalism may have its roots in something far deeper than a failure to recognize its virtues and benefits.

Sad to say, most people have no clear idea of what capitalism and socialism actually are. Bathed in the contradictions of living in a mixed economy, many attribute the successes of capitalism to socialism, and socialism’s failures to capitalism. In the absence of an objective understanding of each ‘ism,’ this suggests a psychological or emotional association that is the source of their bias.

As always, the first rule in the art of political persuasion is ‘define or be defined.’ By allowing the ‘socialist’ Left to define the terms of the discussion, the ‘capitalist’ Right has been placed in an almost insurmountable disadvantage.

Consider that with their simple positioning of the words ‘socialism’ against ‘capitalism,’ socialists have already won a critical part of the debate. After all, the two ‘isms’ have little to do with each other, since ‘social’ and ‘capital’ are incompatible concepts. Continue reading »

socialism

The growing appeal of socialism, particularly among the young, is both alarming and exceedingly dangerous.

The experience of socialism as manifested in countries outside the Western nations is generally alien to most Westerners, given their more capitalistic histories. The horror stories of mass starvation and genocide historically perpetrated in the name of socialism are rarely attributed to the nature of socialism itself, but to something otherwise dysfunctional within the particular culture.

Persistent is the false belief that destructive and failed variants of socialism simply weren’t socialism to begin with, and were instead some form of communism or fascism. The failed attempts at implementing socialism just weren’t done properly, argue socialists.

To distance themselves from the unavoidable and systemic evils of socialism, modern socialists have created the anti-concepts of ‘social democrat’ and ‘social democracy.’ If democracy has an Achilles’ heel that will lead to its own destruction, it is these ridiculous notions of ‘social democracy,’ and ‘social Democrats,’ both euphemisms for socialism and socialists. True democracy and socialism are simply incompatible, both in theory (as discovered through philosophy) and in practice (as repeatedly witnessed in history). Continue reading »

605 – Unlocking the mystery of consciousness

Metacognition

It is ironic that the nature of consciousness still remains a ‘mystery’ in our age of science and technology. After all, these fields themselves required ‘conscious’ focus and effort to become credibly established. Yet, attempts to study consciousness on a scientific, medical, or technological basis only ‘prove’ that these fields of discipline are not up to the task.

Indeed, evidence suggests that many people do not even want to know or understand the real nature of their conscious being, since the answers are not always comforting, particularly when compared to long held beliefs that consciousness can somehow exist without physical form.

Some recent news headlines we examine tell the story: “Scientists spur brain activity in dead pigs” / “Does consciousness continue after the brain dies?” / and “Why can’t the world’s greatest minds solve the mystery of consciousness?”

To understand the nature of consciousness, we find ourselves forced to rely on the disciplines of philosophy and psychology, for science and medicine have never been able to quantitatively measure or pinpoint anything capable of being studied that we call ‘consciousness.’ Continue reading »

604 – Gender politics and the court of public opinion

Me Too

As a political weapon of the Left, the so-called ‘#MeToo movement’ is a propaganda effort specifically calculated to destroy principles of fundamental justice. ‘Convictions’ take place not in a court of law, where at least some semblance of due process still nominally exists, but in the court of public opinion, where due process has no place.

Unlike a court of law, where both the prosecution and the defense have a seat at the table, in the court of public opinion there is only one seat for the prosecutor, and none for the defense. And that’s exactly how the Left likes it; so much so, that every effort is being made to make our courts of law operate very much like their favored court of public opinion.

Behind this evil trend is the postmodern cult of feminism which has been using its #MeToo propaganda campaign to justify libeling, slandering, and otherwise hurling public accusations against men without being held accountable.

Worse, using an epistemologically invalid array of ‘gender identities,’ the Left has now ‘transgendered’ itself from promoting an abuse of justice to promoting the abuse of children. The growing number of victims of this form of child abuse are not discussed in mainstream media, because that media is a part of the Left and refuses to report the abuse. Additionally, outraged and shocked parents of the children being abused have been told by authorities that any action on their part to protect their children or to bring their concerns to the public will be met with severe legal consequences – including having their children taken from them. Audio only. As heard on WBCQ

The rule of thumb is simple: white man’s culture is bad and must be changed.

Joe Biden, as a white man, finds himself cornered under the new rules of the modern clown world Democratic party. If he wishes to run for president under their banner, he must repent his skin color and gender. He must apologize for the perceived sins of white—aka western—culture. And that’s exactly what he attempted to do during a speech at the Biden (yes, I’m not even kidding) Courage Awards in late March 2019.

Join Danielle and Robert as they discuss what is culture and why “white culture” has value.

Salim Mansur – The Conservative Party Stands Up For Canada

Salim Mansur, Professor Emeritus at Western University and nomination candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in the Riding of London North Centre explains his reasons for supporting the CPC and why, given the formation of the new People’s Party of Canada under Maxime Bernier, it is the only party which can defeat Justin Trudeau’s Liberals.

Salim, a frequent guest on and contributor to Just Right tackles what he considers to be the divisive and destructive attempt by others to split the Conservative vote once again, as it was done with the Reform and Canadian Alliance Parties, and hand the Liberal Party a win by default. “since the act of confederation in 1867, there are only two parties that have governed Canada, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party. This is not about to change, and any change that goes to weaken and divide the Conservative Party can and will only benefit the Liberal Party,” says Salim.

We at Just Right Media endorse Salim as a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada and think that, if elected, he would make a fine parliamentarian. At this point, however, we have not endorsed any particular federal political party.

UPDATE: Since this video was published the Conservative Party has “disallowed” Salim’s candidacy calling him an “Islamophobe.” He has since become the candidate for the People’s Party of Canada under Maxime Bernier. Just Right Media continues to support Salim as a candidate for the PPC and has decided to endorse the People’s Party of Canada in the 2019 federal election.
