645 – How dare they! – The carbonated propaganda of fighting climate change

Fighting ‘climate change’ is perhaps the single most significant political issue of our time. Whether one is a ‘believer’ or a ‘denier’ – or completely oblivious to the whole matter – it’s an issue that affects everyone because it is being politically forced on each of us. Of course, the political narrative is fundamentally not really about climate at all. But that’s not what the mainstream media and politicians would have us believe.

For example, in his January 22 syndicated newspaper commentary, columnist Gwynne Dyer predicted “that those who led or financed the denial campaign will almost certainly end up facing criminal charges 10 or 20 years from now.” Citing “how a great many companies conspired to cast doubt on the scientific evidence for global warming over a period of several decades,” he called for those opposed to the politically correct narrative on climate change to be punished: “not talking about just fines… but also talking about criminal liability.”

Dyer’s attitude is typical of climate change alarmists everywhere. Rather than welcome an open and informed dialogue on climate, they would punish those who do not participate in the politically correct narrative.

“How dare you!” angrily threatened climate icon Greta Thunberg at the United Nations last September, in her call to have world governments take political action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions globally. Driven by a propaganda campaign based on the utterly false premise that CO2 is a pollutant, the reality is that CO2 is the ‘gas of life.’ Continue reading »

644 – Gone coronaviral—The infectious politics of spreading fear and panic

Ever since isolated incidents of ‘coronavirus’ have begun appearing outside of China, much of the mainstream and social media alike have gone ‘coronaviral’ by needlessly spreading fear and panic about the flu-like illness. Yet, the real disease that should be feared is China’s political ideology which may have more to do with the breakout of coronavirus than the virus itself.

As our guest Salim Mansur explains, China has been identified as the world’s premier incubator of new infectious flu strains, including: the 1918-19 Spanish flu, the 1957 Asian flu, the Hong Kong flu of 1968, the Russian flu of 1997, the SARS outbreak of 2003, and most recently, the global spread of coronavirus originating in Wuhan. To Salim, this is not surprising. Having himself visited China from its coastal cities to its deepest interior, Salim has witnessed horrifying conditions unimaginable to most of us.

With entire cities of millions being shut down and quarantined, China’s actions have included rounding up, imprisoning, and even shooting its own citizens who were caught walking in the streets. Remarkably, China’s government has been praised by many Western leaders for its handling of the outbreak.

There is a tragic and outrageous irony in this. In the Western nations, the outbreak of coronavirus has been politicized so as to place blame on the Trump administration in the United States, with the mainstream media and those on the Left going so far as to call it the ‘Trump virus.’ Yet, the only justifiable ‘politicization’ of this outbreak falls squarely on China’s communist regime, and on the globalist politicians who have failed to take the appropriate measures to limit its spread. “Globalism is the instrument by which the progressive alliance is out to strip away the unalienable rights of free people and their sovereign states,” says Salim Mansur, Professor Emeritus at Western University.

In this in-depth discussion with Just Right Media’s Robert Vaughan, Professor Mansur delves deep into the history of the globalist agenda. From its philosophic roots dating back to Karl Marx and Immanuel Kant to the formation of the United Nations to the many pretexts for control and power, he covers the many facets of globalism to put this complex and sinister movement into perspective.

643 – Canada’s crisis: from alienation to alien nations?

Comments Off on 643 – Canada’s crisis: from alienation to alien nations?

Canada is in crisis. In many ways, that crisis is similar to that faced by the European Union and its recent loss of Britain as a constituent member of that union.

In this, the second part of our conversation with Dr Salim Mansur, professor emeritus of political science at Western University, we discover that the fluid dynamics of the nation-state can easily lead to alienation ‘within’ nations. When interests and common values once shared instead become a source of conflict and cause for national divisions, the resulting alienation may lead to the literal formation of alien nations.

Given the rise and fall of the nation-state throughout history, it is clear that nations are far more fragile than most people generally perceive. The temporary duration of the various political structures under which humankind has been governed or ruled throughout history merits due consideration.

After having considered the state of the unions known as Britain, Europe, and America, our attention now turns to Canada, the country that many consider to be the ‘odd man out’ with regard to the most recent political shifts in the Anglosphere. Continue reading »

Dr. Salim Mansur, Professor Emeritus at Western University, comments on US President Donald Trump’s momentous visit to India and the positive reaction given Trump by the Indian people and that country’s leadership.

Salim notes the stark contrast between the adulation which Donald Trump received during his visit and the tawdry and juvenile coverage of the historic event made by the mainstream American media and to the clownish antics exhibited by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when he visited India in 2018.

642 – State of the unions: Britain—Europe—America | Salim Mansur

Comments Off on 642 – State of the unions: Britain—Europe—America | Salim Mansur

With the realization of Britain’s Brexit, the subsequent shrinking of the European Union, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s popular presidency based on ‘putting America first,’ the idea of ‘globalism and a borderless world’ has suffered a serious setback.

It is a metaphysical necessity that all political organization and activity, irrespective of its nature, requires a jurisdictional structure within which all of the activity takes place. Every political jurisdiction is defined by geographic borders, nor could it be otherwise.

The various political structures under which humanity has been governed or ruled have taken many forms. Among them: an empire, a commonwealth, a kingdom, a republic, a common market, a federation, a state, a province, a union, a nation, a country, a municipality (city, town, village), a region, a territory, etc.

It is significant to note that when the U.S. president annually addresses Americans, his address is not called the State of the ‘Nation,’ but is instead called the State of the ‘Union’. This speaks to a profound distinction regarding the independent nature of the political units being so identified – and the people who live within them.

In this first of a two-part discussion with Dr. Salim Mansur (professor emeritus of political science at Western University), we are guided through a brief history of the rise and fall of nation states. The temporary duration of the various political structures under which humankind has been governed or ruled throughout history – even very recent history – merits due consideration.

In the final analysis, it appears that whatever form a particular political jurisdiction takes, there is never one that can be considered to be Just Right without the consenting support of those who live within its borders.

641 – Freedom Forward – Philosophy’s indispensable role in determining the Right Direction

Comments Off on 641 – Freedom Forward – Philosophy’s indispensable role in determining the Right Direction

There is a widespread belief – particularly among advocates of freedom and capitalism – that individual freedom and individual rights will spontaneously emerge if nations gradually adopt various forms of capitalism, freer markets, and/or more private economic initiatives. Yet, many socialist, fascist and communist jurisdictions have done exactly this, but nevertheless remained socialist, fascist or communist. While their economies may have become more ‘efficient,’ their people still do not enjoy individual rights, having ironically been turned into ‘slaves’ of a state-directed economic ‘efficiency.’

Additionally, there is a certain ‘literalism’ on the philosophic front, with many freedom advocates rejecting the best political alternative on the basis of some kind of philosophical impurity or inconsistency on the part of a given politician or party.

This is dangerous thinking, and can lead to unwarranted feelings of futility, frustration, and cynicism regarding political action in general. It is an affliction that most affects those on the Right, and is in part responsible for the continuing ascendancy of the Left and the erosion of our freedoms. Continue reading »

Take ten freedom-loving people, put them in a room in front of some microphones, and what do you get? Our first ever ‘Freedom Panel,’ sharing views on Brexit, climate change, and a mutual frustration with the lack of rational philosophies in politics.

At long last, Brexit has become a reality. But that development reflects a long-established British history and philosophy that has always been incompatible with that of the European nations. For that reason, many have regarded Brexit as inevitable. Founded on individualism rather than on the European collectivism that has brought the continent to disaster on repeated occasions, Britain can now once again forge its own political destiny, freed from the control of Brussels.

With the good news on the Brexit front, it’s too bad that politicians continue to ring the bells of climate alarmism, pretending to talk about the weather when what they’re trying to prevent changing is the climate of collectivism.

Ironically, it is the growing politics of populism that is beginning to demonstrate an effective defense against collectivism’s ills. Even so, many individualists and supporters of political freedom remain opposed to a populism that they see as being unprincipled. But is populism really an obstacle to freedom, or is it an opportunity for rational principles to once again become part of the political playing field?

Though our panelists have many differing perspectives on this question and other issues, one thing you can always count on is a discussion that will be Just Right.

639 – Iran’s love affair with America — Behind the mask of an Islamist theocracy

Comments Off on 639 – Iran’s love affair with America — Behind the mask of an Islamist theocracy
Jan 302020

Given the government of Iran’s repeated shouts of “Death to America,” you might be surprised to learn that the Iranian people themselves love Americans. How do we know this? Because when asked (and even often when not), they say so – openly, freely, and without reservation.

Since the killing of Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s ballistic missile response in Iraq, and its subsequent downing of Ukrainian Flight 752, the eyes of the world have been focused on Iran. And yet, despite all the attention, few can actually see what the people of Iran are really like.

The world outside Iran finally got a glimpse of how Iranians feel about their own government when thousands protested in the streets in response to the shooting down of Flight 752. This was a far cry from the previous public demonstration in Iran where the world saw thousands grieving the death of Soleimani.

It occurred that perhaps a similar contradiction masks the way Iranians actually feel about the West, and about America in particular. Sure enough, after sidestepping the politicians and speaking to ‘the people’ of Iran itself, that’s exactly what we discovered.

When it comes to understanding the heart of a nation, forget the politicians; listening to its people is the way to paint a picture that’s closer to being Just Right.

638 – Cause and defect—Playing the blame game over Iran’s downing of Flight 752

Comments Off on 638 – Cause and defect—Playing the blame game over Iran’s downing of Flight 752
Jan 232020

Under a cloak of plausible deniability, Iran has argued that its downing of Ukrainian Flight 752 over Tehran was both ‘accidental’ and ‘caused’ by Trump’s ordering the killing of Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani. Indeed, many argue that this tragedy would never have happened “if President Donald Trump had not decided to kill that Iranian general.”

While this may indeed be so, it is not proof of causality. ‘Motivation’ alone is not a ‘cause’. Iran could have chosen to respond in a myriad of different ways. To argue that Trump’s decision ‘caused’ the downing of Flight 752 is defective logic. For Iran, It is a narrative constructed to avoid taking direct responsibility for its unconscionable action.

Whether in physics or in the realm of human behavior, ‘causes’ are not metaphysical realities; they are an epistemological phenomenon. In other words, by assigning a ‘cause’ to a specific consequence, we are in reality constructing a narrative for some given purpose or objective. In this case, that purpose consists of assigning moral responsibility to some individual, group or government in the pursuit of justice.

Therefore the real question that bears asking is this: Were the actions of Iran justifiable given the circumstances? The correct answer depends upon the standards of one’s judgement. Continue reading »

“I call it Climate Change BS and by BS – if I have to spell it out – I mean Bad Science!” concludes our guest Dave Plumb, whose book ‘Inconveniently Screwed’ describes and explains the ‘good’ science behind what we actually do know about climate change and its causes.

In the face of continuing outrageous claims about a pending ‘climate crisis,’ the real science of climate has been replaced by the fake ‘political science’ of Leftist politicians.

Since ‘facts don’t matter’ to those on the Left, the whole climate change debate can become quite frustrating for those who think that facts do matter. The relentless efforts of the Left to continue promoting their climate fiction can only be resisted and defeated by a similar relentless effort on the part of those who have the Right ideas about climate and climate change.

As always, the real climate the Left is talking about – and wants to change – is our political climate. The only consistency to be found in their arguments about climate change is a hatred of individual freedom, capitalism, and of humanity itself. Forced discussions about carbon dioxide and weather concerns are mere distractions from their evil intentions.

With one form of BS (Bad Science) being promoted via another form of BS (Bad Schools), facts are the last thing the Left wants to hear about.

Given the Bad Science being taught in Bad Schools, it would be Just Right to conclude that the politics being used to support and promote those two forms of BS is the BS of the traditional type.

In the wake of the deliberate downing of Ukrainian Flight 752 and the killing of 57 Canadians Professor Salim Mansur suggests that there are fifth columnists in the Canadian Parliament aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamists in Tehran who are acting against Canadian interests in our dealing with the terrorist theocracy of Iran.

We are well past the time that the Canadian people wake up and demand that Canada clean its house of Islamist sympathizers. We should demand stiffer action and stiffer response against such rogue states as Iran under the mullahs.

Heightened tensions in Iraq and Iran have overshadowed the conflicts that the Americans are having at home with their President once again becoming the target of Democratic terrorist sympathizers.

Congress, the Press, and many Americans have forgotten their history by condemning President Trump’s actions in Iraq and the taking out of terrorist Qassem Soleimani. Where once they lauded President Reagan for the assassination attempt on Muammar Gaddafi in 1986 and hailed President Obama as a hero for conducting the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, Trump is vilified for acting in the nation’s defence and interests in Iraq.

Professor Emeritus Salim Mansur of Western University once again reminds us of the hypocrisy of the Trump-deranged Democrats and the two-faced media by putting the latest actions in the Middle East in historical perspective.

636 – The impeachment of Donald Trump—for crimes of the Democratic Party

Comments Off on 636 – The impeachment of Donald Trump—for crimes of the Democratic Party
Jan 092020

In the absence of any objective evidence whatever, on December 18, 2019, the Democratic Party voted to impeach U.S. President Donald Trump. In so doing, Democrats followed through on their announced intention to impeach from the very first moment of Trump’s election in 2016. Worse, House speaker Nancy Pelosi withheld the articles of impeachment from the Senate as if to emphasize that due process has no place in the world of Democrats.

Having first unsuccessfully blamed Trump’s electoral victory on Russian interference, then on false accusations of racism and other improprieties, Democrats eventually settled upon a phone call made by Trump to the president of Ukraine as the grounds for their long-intended impeachment vote.

What makes their whole impeachment process particularly laughable is that it has been a total exercise in projection: every accusation made against Trump relates to verifiable actions taken by Hillary Clinton and a host of Democrats in the past.

To add insult to injury, the mainstream media has utterly abandoned its role as the fourth estate by repeating the lies and falsehoods promoted by the Democrats and by expressing outright personal hatreds directed towards the president.

As Salim Mansur concludes on today’s broadcast, at the heart of the futile effort to implicate Trump in various conspiracies and illegal activities lies the Left’s Progressive agenda, which takes the form of socialism and communism. Thus, it is Just Right to conclude that in reality, they’re not after Trump; they’re after the American people, and Trump is just in the way.

Politics has become a war of shifting definitions with both the Conservatives and the Liberals becoming ‘progressives’ and ‘collectivists’ yet continuing to call themselves something they clearly are not.

Professor Bruce Pardy of Queen’s University, Professor Emeritus Salim Mansur of Western University and Robert Vaughan of Just Right Media try to make some sense of the confusing labels.

Rounding out the discussion is why the People’s Party of Canada failed to capture the support of Canadians in the last federal election even though they lie squarely in that “sweet spot of liberty” reserved for the individualistic, classical liberals.

The killing of Qassem Soleimani is but one of a series of events in the Iran/USA saga spanning 40 years and should be taken as a sign of a decisive President who will not back down to evil.

Salim Mansur and Robert Vaughan discuss the complex backstory to this perpetual testing of diplomatic nerves and political intrigue.

At the heart of it is a President attempting to clean up the sordid mess left by preceding Administrations who have appeased and kowtowed to bullies, cowards, and a theocratic dictatorship ready to spread their vile ideology throughout the world.

We come out of the womb hard wired to change our environments. We possess parenting skills which we can’t seem to turn off when it comes to adults. And we participate in a competing free-for-all in an attempt to shape society to our wishes and whims.

In the first of a 3-part series Salim Mansur, Professor Emeritus at Western University, speaks with Robert Vaughan of Just Right Media, and Salim’s Campaign Manager in the 2019 election, about the failings of Canada’s system of government.

The Western provinces and rural Canadians are once again ignored in Parliament as the Liberals under Justin Trudeau have been reelected primarily with the support of the urban voters of Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa.

Regardless of the part in power the dominance of the Laurentian elite in Canadian politics is something which dates back to the founding of our nation and has been a constant irritant to many Canadians outside of Ontario and Quebec who wish to be treated as equal partners in what is supposed to be a Federation of equal provinces.

In Part 1 Salim suggests that the debate on a triple-E Senate needs to be revisited to once and for all address the inequities built into our Westminster-style system of government.

It was an epistemological train wreck. To understand today’s appeal of socialism and why capitalism remains an “unknown ideal,” one need look no further than to the December 4 Munk Debate on capitalism held in Toronto. The motion: “The capitalist system is broken. It’s time to try something different.”

Speaking in favor of the motion were Yanis Varoufakis (economist, author, Greece’s former finance minister) and Katrina vanden Heuvel (editorial director and publisher of the Nation, Washington Post columnist). Speaking against the motion were Arthur Brooks(Harvard professor and author) and David Brooks (political commentator, New York Times columnist and author).

Despite their credentials, none offered even a subjective definition of capitalism, and despite being presented as debate opponents, all effectively spoke in favour of the motion. In fact, as noted in the National Post coverage of Dec 6, “Munk Debate opponents find common ground.”

That common ground was their mutual hatred of capitalism and what Ayn Rand described as “a hatred of the good for being the good.” All of the debaters praised capitalism’s role in lifting billions from poverty, yet all condemned capitalism with their next breath. Continue reading »

634 – The black and white truth about lying

Comments Off on 634 – The black and white truth about lying
Dec 052019

Generally, when most people object to lying, they think about themselves being lied to – or lied about – and consider lying to be a moral indiscretion. They rarely see themselves as being the liar, nor do they consider how they might even unwittingly or unconsciously be lending credibility to a lie told, whatever its source or intent.

A ‘lie’ is defined as “an untrue statement made with the intent of deceiving; a falsehood; that which creates or is intended to produce a false impression.” (Funk & Wagnalls)

Note that the definition, per se, does not necessarily imply any form of criminal or immoral objective; it merely defines a lie as being a statement that does not represent the reality of a given situation or fact.

Even among the Ten Commandments there is none commanding that “Thou shalt not lie.” However, specific forms of lying are indeed implied in the eighth and ninth commandments, which command that “Thou shalt not steal,” and “Thou shalt not bear false witness.” Continue reading »

Peer pressure may be partly what is behind the firing of Don Cherry from Sportsnet’s Coach’s Corner.

The current cultural hegemony of the left prohibits any dissent or disagreement and even television executives, it seems, are not immune to its destructive force.

They either lack the inner strength to resist the societal tide or they lack the intellectual vocabulary to defend what is right.

Of course, there is always the other option and that is that they actually share the prevailing philosophy of ‘cancelling’ any objection to the order of things.

Whatever their reason for taking Grapes off the air, these people are poltroons and Cherry’s term “cuckaloos,” fits them to a T.

Why Johnny Can't Think

Increasing illiteracy rates and decreasing rates of mastering common knowledge have become highly visible trends within education systems right across North America.

Millennials, in particular, have been identified as the least educated and most illiterate generation in recent history. However, this is not the fault of that generation, or necessarily of others similarly afflicted by illiteracy and its attendant symptoms. Most of the problem can be blamed on the education systems and the teaching trends followed by most schools across North America.

Moreover, it’s not just about ‘what’ is being taught (or not taught), but about ‘how’ it is being taught. Perhaps the most disturbing realization about what has been called ‘progressive education’ is that its teaching methods have been intentionally designed to interfere with and cripple students’ ability to reason. This is no mere accusation, but is the explicit and stated goal of the architects of progressive education.

While for most this is an unthinkable and sinister thing to do to children, to those intent on nurturing compliant and obedient followers incapable of resisting the forces of collectivism, it’s the perfectly appropriate thing to do. It is a practice that has been growing and gaining acceptance within public schools for the better part of the last century. More than any single cause, this practice is responsible for today’s shocking level of illiteracy and for the increasing number of young people who cannot reason objectively or think independently.
