Three Stooges

Early in his administration, U.S. president Donald Trump proposed that each new regulation created by law should be matched by the elimination of two previously existing regulations. While this represents a positive move in the right direction, it barely addresses the tip of the iceberg with regard to all the unnecessary and counterproductive regulations that need to be eliminated.

No matter how well intentioned a given law may be, the regulations created to administer that law more frequently than not turn into the proverbial ‘devil in the details,’ reaching a point where the consequences of the regulation are often worse than the problem originally thought solved.

Even when regulations reach a point where their consequences are contrary to the intended purpose of the original law on which they were based, there is little recourse available to those harmed by the regulation, since no one can be held effectively accountable. One cannot reason or argue with administrators or bureaucrats when, ironically, they merely cite legislation as their justification for doing almost anything that they interpret as falling within the purview of their authority.

Under the principle of the ‘Rule of Law,’ politicians and citizen representatives can be held accountable for the consequences. Under ‘Rule by Regulation,’ there is little such accountability. Continue reading »

Bonanza

Socialism’s growing appeal is often difficult to understand, particularly given capitalism’s demonstrated social, economic, and political superiority. However, the resistance to capitalism may have its roots in something far deeper than a failure to recognize its virtues and benefits.

Sad to say, most people have no clear idea of what capitalism and socialism actually are. Bathed in the contradictions of living in a mixed economy, many attribute the successes of capitalism to socialism, and socialism’s failures to capitalism. In the absence of an objective understanding of each ‘ism,’ this suggests a psychological or emotional association that is the source of their bias.

As always, the first rule in the art of political persuasion is ‘define or be defined.’ By allowing the ‘socialist’ Left to define the terms of the discussion, the ‘capitalist’ Right has been placed in an almost insurmountable disadvantage.

Consider that with their simple positioning of the words ‘socialism’ against ‘capitalism,’ socialists have already won a critical part of the debate. After all, the two ‘isms’ have little to do with each other, since ‘social’ and ‘capital’ are incompatible concepts. Continue reading »

socialism

The growing appeal of socialism, particularly among the young, is both alarming and exceedingly dangerous.

The experience of socialism as manifested in countries outside the Western nations is generally alien to most Westerners, given their more capitalistic histories. The horror stories of mass starvation and genocide historically perpetrated in the name of socialism are rarely attributed to the nature of socialism itself, but to something otherwise dysfunctional within the particular culture.

Persistent is the false belief that destructive and failed variants of socialism simply weren’t socialism to begin with, and were instead some form of communism or fascism. The failed attempts at implementing socialism just weren’t done properly, argue socialists.

To distance themselves from the unavoidable and systemic evils of socialism, modern socialists have created the anti-concepts of ‘social democrat’ and ‘social democracy.’ If democracy has an Achilles’ heel that will lead to its own destruction, it is these ridiculous notions of ‘social democracy,’ and ‘social Democrats,’ both euphemisms for socialism and socialists. True democracy and socialism are simply incompatible, both in theory (as discovered through philosophy) and in practice (as repeatedly witnessed in history). Continue reading »

Metacognition

It is ironic that the nature of consciousness still remains a ‘mystery’ in our age of science and technology. After all, these fields themselves required ‘conscious’ focus and effort to become credibly established. Yet, attempts to study consciousness on a scientific, medical, or technological basis only ‘prove’ that these fields of discipline are not up to the task.

Indeed, evidence suggests that many people do not even want to know or understand the real nature of their conscious being, since the answers are not always comforting, particularly when compared to long held beliefs that consciousness can somehow exist without physical form.

Some recent news headlines we examine tell the story: “Scientists spur brain activity in dead pigs” / “Does consciousness continue after the brain dies?” / and “Why can’t the world’s greatest minds solve the mystery of consciousness?”

To understand the nature of consciousness, we find ourselves forced to rely on the disciplines of philosophy and psychology, for science and medicine have never been able to quantitatively measure or pinpoint anything capable of being studied that we call ‘consciousness.’ Continue reading »

Me Too

As a political weapon of the Left, the so-called ‘#MeToo movement’ is a propaganda effort specifically calculated to destroy principles of fundamental justice. ‘Convictions’ take place not in a court of law, where at least some semblance of due process still nominally exists, but in the court of public opinion, where due process has no place.

Unlike a court of law, where both the prosecution and the defense have a seat at the table, in the court of public opinion there is only one seat for the prosecutor, and none for the defense. And that’s exactly how the Left likes it; so much so, that every effort is being made to make our courts of law operate very much like their favored court of public opinion.

Behind this evil trend is the postmodern cult of feminism which has been using its #MeToo propaganda campaign to justify libeling, slandering, and otherwise hurling public accusations against men without being held accountable.

Worse, using an epistemologically invalid array of ‘gender identities,’ the Left has now ‘transgendered’ itself from promoting an abuse of justice to promoting the abuse of children. The growing number of victims of this form of child abuse are not discussed in mainstream media, because that media is a part of the Left and refuses to report the abuse. Additionally, outraged and shocked parents of the children being abused have been told by authorities that any action on their part to protect their children or to bring their concerns to the public will be met with severe legal consequences – including having their children taken from them. The rule of thumb is simple: white man’s culture is bad and must be changed.

Joe Biden, as a white man, finds himself cornered under the new rules of the modern clown world Democratic party. If he wishes to run for president under their banner, he must repent his skin color and gender. He must apologize for the perceived sins of white—aka western—culture. And that’s exactly what he attempted to do during a speech at the Biden (yes, I’m not even kidding) Courage Awards in late March 2019.

Join Danielle and Robert as they discuss what is culture and why “white culture” has value.

Salim Mansur, Professor Emeritus at Western University and nomination candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in the Riding of London North Centre explains his reasons for supporting the CPC and why, given the formation of the new People’s Party of Canada under Maxime Bernier, it is the only party which can defeat Justin Trudeau’s Liberals.

Salim, a frequent guest on and contributor to Just Right tackles what he considers to be the divisive and destructive attempt by others to split the Conservative vote once again, as it was done with the Reform and Canadian Alliance Parties, and hand the Liberal Party a win by default. “since the act of confederation in 1867, there are only two parties that have governed Canada, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party. This is not about to change, and any change that goes to weaken and divide the Conservative Party can and will only benefit the Liberal Party,” says Salim.

We at Just Right Media endorse Salim as a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada and think that, if elected, he would make a fine parliamentarian. At this point, however, we have not endorsed any particular federal political party.

UPDATE: Since this video was published the Conservative Party has “disallowed” Salim’s candidacy calling him an “Islamophobe.” He has since become the candidate for the People’s Party of Canada under Maxime Bernier. Just Right Media continues to support Salim as a candidate for the PPC and has decided to endorse the People’s Party of Canada in the 2019 federal election.

Bernie Sanders

It has recently been announced that Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign will focus on “exposing socialism,” a welcome objective to be sure, but no easy task.

Socialism appears in a myriad of forms, many individual components recognizable, yet with socialism’s greater destructive ideology remaining invisible to its victims.

For example, few would recognize socialism in government efforts to ‘fight climate change.’

To ‘fight climate change,’ governments have imposed what they call a ‘carbon tax’ or a ‘price on carbon’ – citing ‘carbon pollution’ as something that needs to be eliminated in order to keep the climate from changing. Continue reading »

Justin Trudeau, Jody Wilson-Raybould

Does Canada operate under the ‘rule of law’ or under the ‘rule of Trudeau’ and political expediency? As Canadians find themselves drowning in details about the scandal involving Quebec construction giant SNC-Lavalin, the correct answer to that question may depend on the greater story that has yet to be seen in its full context.

Most people quite correctly understand that the controversy involves alleged political interference and obstruction of justice by the Prime Minister’s office concerning a criminal prosecution case against SNC-Lavalin. But few seem aware of the original circumstances that led to the decision to prosecute the company against the wishes of Prime Minister Trudeau in the first place.

It appears that many have come to cynically conclude it’s just another ‘business-as-usual’ case of bribery and corruption so often encountered when dealing with totalitarian regimes. (In this case, the totalitarian regime in question was the country of Libya during the final days of the period when Muammar Gaddafi was its president.) Not so, says Dr Salim Mansur, professor emeritus, faculty of social science at Western University. Continue reading »

American Flag

When labeling opponents ‘extreme right wing,’ those on the Left most frequently use that label as a pejorative to attack an individual messenger. In contrast, when those on the Right use the ‘Left’ label, they most frequently use it to identify the idea(s) they find objectionable and apply that label to the larger collective that is Left.

Sad to say, the Left has been winning the label war in the political arena. In addition to the Left’s ‘extreme right’ pejorative, they have contrived other anti-concepts like ‘Islamophobia’ and ‘carbon pollution’ as effective labels to compromise their opponents. They do this because it works, and it works because those on the Right keep trying to avoid being labeled. The consequences are devastating to those on the Right and will continue to be so until the Right rises to define itself correctly as being Right, rather than allowing itself to be defined by the Left.

The irony is that the Left intentionally associates ‘extreme right wing’ with racism, fascism, Islamophobia, hate, and a whole host of negative associations that properly align with the Left. Those who call someone ‘extreme right wing’ do not associate their pejorative with freedom – life, liberty, property – even though these are the very values that are properly represented by the Right, and the values to which the Left objects. Brenton Tarrant

No sooner had last week’s tragic events in New Zealand unfolded than the mainstream media instantly politicized its narrative surrounding the terrorist attack. The urgency of this action was necessitated by the fact that the terrorist had published and distributed a written ‘manifesto’ entitled ‘The Great Replacement Towards A New Society’ prior to his attack. It is a ‘manifesto’ outlining easily recognizable Left-wing values and objectives that could prove to be an embarrassment to those on the Left if ever associated with terrorism.

Naturally, the media pulled out its most powerful weapon: the Label Gun. Relying on the term ‘right-wing’ as a pejorative, the Label Gun is a political weapon that shoots ‘right wing’ labels at those who present any threat to the Left – including Leftists themselves.

This is done in the hopes that the label will stick and keep the Left distanced from the consequences of its own beliefs. Thus, Brenton Tarrant was immediately labeled a ‘right-wing’ terrorist by the mainstream media, despite all the available evidence making it abundantly clear that Tarrant is motivated and driven by Leftist ideologies and goals. Like them or not, the labels of ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ are invariably used in the political war of words that rages perpetually. As ideological identifiers, they are fundamental and necessary.

While those on the Left often proudly boast their ideological affiliation with the Left, those on the Right have been shamed into avoiding their proper and commendable political affiliation. Today, being labeled ‘extreme right wing’ is considered the ultimate insult since it has been falsely associated with the evils of fascism, an ideology of the Left.

This problem has become particularly visible (though not understood) thanks to the debates seen and heard on social media, where accusations of being ‘extreme’ right, racist, fascist, etc have become the common pejorative used by the Left against its opponents.

This has made it possible for many on the Left to justify censoring or banning the ‘extreme right’ from social media.  Ironically, social media has been monopolized by the Left – communists, fascists, socialists, and ‘progressives.’ Continue reading »

The Prime Minister’s Office, officials and even the Prime Minister himself have been accused of pressuring the then Attorney General and Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to override the Director of Public Prosecution and give SNC-Lavalin a walk on bribery and fraud charges during an election year. This is war

There is a growing consensus that what was once only a ‘war of words’ is now approaching a point where that ‘war’ can no longer be fought only with words. The war is now moving into the courtroom, and a major case going forward is Steven Crowder’s (Louder With Crowder) lawsuit against Facebook.

We fully support this action, as we find ourselves asking: Isn’t it time that those on the ‘Right’ began treating their opponents on the Left in the same warlike manner the Left has been exhibiting towards them?

It has regrettably become clear that social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook , Twitter, and others known to be owned and/or operated by interests on the Left, have been found to be misrepresenting themselves and their services in a way that should concern everyone able to read these words on-line.

After having actively pursued content providers on the ‘right’ to set up shop on their platforms, they have now been found to be unethically restricting and banning those same voices from their promised ‘free speech’ platforms, for the most dubious reasons. This has been done through the filing of numerous false copyright claims, ‘de-platforming,’ ‘de-boosting,’ ‘de-monitizing’ and other hidden actions cutting off content providers from their established audiences. Just Right

The political world is engaged in an eternal war of words that consists of two primary factors: (1) the words themselves, and (2) the means by which those words are expressed and heard by others.

Among the most important words in the political lexicon are the words ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ – words that have come to represent political ideologies diametrically opposed. In both theory and practice, the Left represents the condition of Tyranny, while the Right represents the condition of Freedom. Few understand this, because the vast majority has been influenced by decades of propaganda creating a false conception of Left and Right.

Tragically, most mistakenly believe that there is a ‘middle of the road’ or ‘centrist’ position on an imaginary ‘spectrum’ that can ‘mix’ tyranny with freedom – or worse – avoid the ‘extreme’ of either Left or Right. Others have dismissed the labels entirely because they have (quite understandably) seen little difference between many of the so-called ‘left-wing’ and ‘right-wing’ parties and politicians.

This confusion has always worked to the advantage of the Left – and is perpetually and intentionally promoted by the Left. It has long been those on the Left who have been winning the epistemological war, by creating anti-concepts, turning objective definitions into subjective ones, and most outrageously, having gotten away with falsely placing ‘fascism’ (an entirely Leftist ideology) on the ‘Right’ of the political polarity. When is a cigar just a cigar? Never – if the American Psychological Association (APA) is allowed to answer that question.

In making their observations about The APA’s 2018 Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Boys and Men, Danielle and Robert review the guideline’s litany of gender and sex role irrationalities.

What the APA appears to conclude, concludes Danielle herself, is that ‘white’ and ‘heterosexual’ men are no longer a ‘norm,’ which is essentially a meaningless assertion. However, the APA is attempting to use this argument as a means of demonstrating that there is a ‘new normal’ post-modern behavioral standard of ‘masculinity’ – and that the old norms are socially harmful and destructive.

Most notably, in the APA’s ‘striving’ to arrive at its ‘conclusions,’ it is difficult not to notice that the term ‘strive’ is used dozens of times in the guideline, clearly implying an agenda rather than an earnest effort at research related to reality. In their attempt to socially ‘castrate’ the true norms of masculinity, the authors of the APA guidelines have succeeded only in castrating concepts, which, significantly, has been their goal all along.

From our point of view, what would be Just Right is a psychological assessment of the American Psychological Association – but no one seems to have the balls to do it.

police with megaphones

It’s remarkable how many people passionately support government initiatives for reasons demonstrably false and/or contrary to their own declared intentions or objectives.

Today, we examine three issues where this phenomenon prevails. (1) the promotion of gun control as a means of ‘preventing’ injuries and death; (2) the promotion of a ‘single payer’ state run system to ‘prevent’ those in need of medical care from being unable to pay for such care; and (3) the support of ‘Amber Alerts’ as a means of ‘preventing’ tragic outcomes in criminal child abduction cases.

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” goes the old saying. But this once reasonable perspective has now been turned into a ‘pathology’ of ‘preventative prescriptions’ that have more to do with creating narratives, than with ‘preventing’ undesirable outcomes.

The latest example occurred last week when an “Amber Alert” was issued in Ontario regarding the abduction of 11-year-old Riya Rajkumar. Police received hundreds of complaints about how the alert was issued, and with good reason. Continue reading »

“Pushing limits” once meant pushing the limits of knowledge, science, understanding, and human potential. But to the Left, pushing limits means pushing the limits of social and moral tolerance of the Left’s offensive ideas and behavior.

“There are no limiting principles to Leftism – none whatsoever. So once you allow this thing, you’ve got to allow the next thing. You’ve got to allow the next thing after that.” (Steven Green, Right Angle, Feb 6/19) Green’s observation was inspired by the state of Virginia’s proposed Bill HB-241 allowing late-term abortions up to the point of birth and, warns Danielle, to “what amounts to infanticide.”

“The Left is a train wreck of competing ideas that one day will fall in upon itself like a house of cards,” predicts Robert. With competing interests all vying for ‘victimhood status’, the inevitable power struggle between victim classes will self-destruct in clashes similar to the one between ‘Black Lives Matter’ and organizers of Toronto’s gay pride parades. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s Liberal government has announced a sinister plan to curb ‘fake news,’ political ‘misinformation,’ and ‘foreign influence’ in Canada’s elections.

Supporters of the Trudeau Plan, like the Globe and Mail’s ‘disinformation expert’ Marcus Kolga, actually believe that it does not go far enough, and ‘divisive’ ideas and discussions like those about ‘anti-immigration and anti-globalism’ should be even further curbed on social media.

All of this is reprehensible, and should be loudly condemned. We have one clear message for Trudeau and his fake supporters: “So fake off already – and get real!”

False news reports have been with us since the news itself. But as we learn on today’s broadcast, the current context of the term ‘fake news’ was first introduced on October 13, 2016 in an Obama speech calling for a campaign to “curate information in the wild west media environment.” Continue reading »

Gillette, the brand that hates white men,” is how Danielle describes that company’s market positioning statement due to its public service announcement (PSA) portraying white males in a negatively sexist and racist manner while asking:“Is this the best a man can get?”

It is a stark contrast against the company’s original decades-old commercial, ‘Gillette: The Best a Man Can Get,’ containing the lyrics “we give you all we have to give for all a man can be. When the race is run, you’re the champion.”

The change in attitude and message has not been lost on a significant portion of the public, having already accumulated more than 1.2 million ‘dislikes’ on YouTube. Yet, in conversation with Danielle, Robert suggests that the PSA may well have been a ‘brilliant marketing ploy’ on the part of Gillette seeking to re-establish and expand name recognition and dominance in the marketplace.

Sadly, Gillette’s message is disturbing and provocative – for all the wrong reasons. As an indictment of the moral state of our society – condoning and promoting ‘hateful nonsense’ – the PSA stands on its own. But the ‘message’ (that most men are toxic) is a glaring moral condemnation of heterosexual masculinity itself.

The Covington testament

To appreciate the significance of an event that began in front of Washington DC’s Lincoln Memorial on January 18, it is first necessary to determine which event we’re talking about.

Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann, who with his fellow high school students from Kentucky were congregated at the Lincoln Memorial waiting for a bus to return them home, suddenly became the Leftist media’s national poster boy representing hate and racism.

After two avowedly racist activist groups aggressively confronted him with their racist ideologies – Sandmann’s inaction and smile in response to the unjustifiable obscenities hurled at him was cause enough for the media and a significant portion of the public to blame the victim. More significantly, that same media dismissed or even justified the immoral and racist actions of those confronting the fifteen-year-old student.

‘Fake news’ is a far too inadequate label to describe the Covington narratives created by the media of the Left, from CNN to NBC. Even after the full context of relevant factors had surfaced, their continuing false narratives serve as a testament to what has become a new low in journalistic standards or integrity. This is the real story, the compelling story, the essential story, the encompassing story that must be preserved as a lesson for all. Continue reading »

In fact, suggests Robert in his conversation with Danielle, it should be referred to as the ‘Covington Test,’ in honor of Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann who became a symbol of the media’s disgraceful abandonment of its traditional role as a source of reliable information.

Having earlier attended the ‘March for Life’ rally barely acknowledged by the media, Sandmann found himself thrust into the court of public opinion, judged guilty of the “face crime of smiling while white,” as Danielle describes the media spin.

Doug Ford - Scrap the carbon tax

Ontario premier Doug Ford has been chastised, ridiculed, and criticized for connecting the imposition of carbon taxes with the possibility of an ‘economic downturn,’ or recession. While governments and economists assure us that the odds of a recession are remote, in light of the recent report by MMP insolvency trustees that reveals 46% of Canadians are within $200 of insolvency, one wonders if Canadians aren’t already in the middle of a recession.

What makes the whole debate fascinating is the superficial level on which economists are analyzing a very real and serious situation. It is difficult to reconcile the assurances of economists that Ontario’s economy is growing at a healthy rate with the visible reality of the growing rates of poverty that Canadians are reading about each and every day in their news reports.

Meanwhile, in the United States, there can be very little doubt that America is experiencing an economic resurgence unparalleled in recent history.

What is common to both the American and Canadian experience is how the Left in each country continues to suffer from the political Derangement Syndrome once only associated with America’s Donald Trump, but that is now surfacing with respect to Ontario’s Doug Ford. Of course, what has been called the ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ has always really been a deranged attitude associated with anything to be perceived on the Right. Continue reading »

Radio Tower

Shortwave radio has long been a weapon in the war of ideas, and continues to be so today, much to the surprise of many. So powerful a weapon, at times throughout history simply being caught in possession of a shortwave radio could warrant imprisonment or death.

It is a significant fact that those threatened by shortwave signals have never been friends of freedom. So it is fitting that our guest, Paul Lambert, who sponsors Just Right on shortwave broadcasts heard around the world, should join us in a discussion about shortwave and about some of his European perspectives on many of the issues often raised on the show.

As a resident of Berlin, Paul’s views on the political environment within Germany offer some fascinating comparisons to the narratives heard outside that country in the major news media. From the disturbing social trends between men and women developing in conjunction with Germany’s mass migration policies, to arbitrarily forcing households, employers, and even car rental agencies to pay a ‘TV tax,’ these trends may well become the norm in a not-too-distant North American Leftist future as well.

At the heart of every issue discussed is, of course, the very ‘right’ itself to discuss any matter or issue with willing participants, and to share those discussions with willing listeners/viewers. A ‘TV tax’ is merely one contrived way to force the unwilling to finance views and values not shared or even opposed. Continue reading »

DMS 044 – The Qur’an problem and Islamism

Jan 202019

Two recent events, the swearing-in of an American congresswoman on the Quran, and the formation of the Islamist Party of Ontario, have generated numerous conversations about the ultimate meaning and significance of each. Danielle and Robert discover that they have a difference of opinion in that regard.

Citing distinctions between the Qur’an, Islamism, and Sharia Law, Robert suggests that swearing an oath on a document that one personally values is acceptable, since it affirms the ‘veracity’ of the oath. And, he suggests, political Islamists would prefer to run for a party like the Liberal Party, as they already have – not for an ‘Islamist’ Party of Ontario.

In contrast, Danielle argues that the book or document upon which someone swears an oath should represent a set of values shared by the body to which an allegiance is being sworn. She objects to swearing an oath on a book that represents the ‘antithesis’ of what it is supposed to uphold. And, she fears, a party like the Islamist party may have a larger constituency than some expect.

Whatever one’s views on the significance of these developing events, it’s simply not possible to picture any compromise between the basic tenets of the Qur’an, Islamism or Sharia Law – theocracy – and a free society that could ever be Just Right.

‘Democracy’ is a deeply philosophical concept, not just a process of voting or holding elections. In fact, the idea that democracy is simply ‘majority rule’ is an idea destructive to the concept of democracy, while the practice of unlimited majority rule results in consequences that do not lead to anything democratic.

To understand why this is demonstrably so, one must consider the wisdom drawn from the ancient Greeks and Romans whose lexicon of political terms form the roots of the words we use today when discussing politics and government.

It may surprise most people to learn that, despite the popular and accepted use of the terms, words like ‘bureaucracy,’ ‘meritocracy,’ ‘aristocracy,’ ‘plutocracy,’ and ‘minarchy’ (among others) are false and inaccurate concepts.
